Hitting your funny bone on a door frame? Not pleasant. Collaborating with our friend Charlotte to brand Funnybone Books, her subscription service for people who love to giggle with a good read? Very pleasant.

Packaging design

Charlotte came to us with a name, a bird sketch, and a dream. She wanted Funnybone to balance intellect with irreverence, drawing inspiration from the sophistication of legacy publishers like Penguin Random House, while still carving out a playful, semi-silly space of its own. Together, we flipped that bird and created something smart enough for the high-brow crowd and delightful enough to win them over.

Logo

We cooked up a couple of logo expressions that easily adapt for both online and in-person use. Like on this tote bag, where the serif logo stands guard over precious cargo—snacks and a good book—on the way to the beach.

Color

The muted, subtle colors we chose aren’t super attention-grabbing (like an accosting TV screen), but more calming and elegant (like cozying up with a new book).
