Brand Writer ✏️
What you'll do most of time
As a Brand Writer at Saint Friend, you will work in close collaboration with a creative strategist and lead designer, with oversight from a creative director, to develop written identities for brands, including:
- Messaging frameworks (what brands believe and want to say)
- Brand voices (how brands say those things in a consistent and interesting way)
- Content strategy (the order and hierarchy of content on a website/app/printed piece)
- Copywriting (pieces of writing crafted to do a specific job for the brand)
You will also occasionally spend time concepting campaigns for clients and leading key writing projects for the Saint Friend brand, like case studies, social copy, and improvements and updates to our website.
Qualities we’d like to see
Above all, you need to be a clear, strong writer, capable of expressing a wide range of voices. Also, you are…
- Self-directed: You can manage your projects and meet project timelines without reminders.
- Knowledgeable: You understand or are capable of quickly learning copywriting best practices, brand design principles, and conceptual thinking.
- Collaborative: You’re comfortable sharing work in progress for feedback and open to puzzling through ambiguity with the team.
- Curious: You’re interested in everything, with an ability to see creative opportunity in every size and type of project and client.
- Strategic: You are as interested in the why as the what and the how.
Why we think it’s nice to work here
We started Saint Friend to create a place to do really lovely, closely collaborative brand design and creative work in a fun, friendly, low-pressure environment. We will do everything we can to help you feel comfortable, supported, and in your best position to succeed.
You can work wherever you are most comfortable. At home, from a coffee shop, from a van, from our sunny little studio on North Mississippi St. in Portland.
It’s nice if you live in Portland (because we do like to get together for regular studio outings), but certainly not necessary.
Salary and other things we can offer you
- Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. We’re happy to share a range when you apply.
- This is a contract-to-hire role. We want to give you and us 60 days to try it out and see how we do together.
- Plus: health care, home office stipend, one month of PTO per year, remote friendly workplace.
How to apply
Please send your portfolio, writing samples, or anything else that illustrates your craft, thinking, and qualifications for the role. We look forward to meeting you!
