Write interesting sentences
Nick Carter

For me, part of the process of learning to write copy was copying: learning and stealing the tricks of people I thought were great copywriters.

Grab attention, then misdirect. Make a callback. Honor the rule of threes. (See, I still do them sometimes.)

Maybe copying is necessary to find your footing early on. But now, I think about copywriting very differently.

All I try to do now is write interesting sentences. One at a time. Short ones. Friendly ones. That people like to read, hopefully.

So if you are a copywriter out there right now, trying to copy all the copy tricks, go for it!

After that, just try writing an interesting sentence. See which you like better.
